Say What You Truly Mean

Every last Sunday of the month with Dhammaloka

10.30 to 11.30 introduction for those new to this format of discussion

11.45 to 14.15 practice session

How do you find out what you truly experience? What you truly mean, feel, believe, want, intend? How do you make sense of the stirrings in the background of everyday life which, though vague, seem too important and meaningful to be ignored? When expressing them, do you also find that there always remains more to be said? Would it be possible to say this more? Would you want that? Might it be important? It is certainly possible, but never 100 percent. However, the more you can articulate, the more fully you can live.

These sessions offer a space for you to bring whatever theme is alive for you. We won’t follow a fixed schedule but trust that genuine exploration will bring up what is needed for spiritual flourishing.

What will the session involve?

We will practise embodied approaches of ‘close talking’, talking that always remains close to experience. This is inspired by Mindfulness, Insight Dialogue, Focusing and Buddhist practices of the three wisdoms (receiving, exploring, realizing). This is a practical means of discovering and cultivating what is existentially relevant though as yet vague and unclear.

We will dialogue in pairs and small groups with an emphasis on deep listening. To engage with each other in mutually supportive ways can be a radical practice, one in which we are ever learners.

Participants should have completed at least two introductory courses at the Buddhist centre. It is not necessary to attend every month, but please register as there will be a maximum of 12 participants. As a newcomer to these sessions, please first attend the introduction.
