SUMMARY:Going Deeper: The Dharma of Poetry
DESCRIPTION:Going Deeper with Shubhalila\nThe Dharma of Poetry\n\nHow poetr
y can deepen our spiritual practice and open us to joy?\n\n\n\nBhante Sang
harakshita believed that poetry can help bridge the gap between intellectu
al understanding and direct\, emotional\, imaginative experience of the Dh
arma.\nIn this six-week going deeper course we will be exploring poems ‘
as teachers’: What they show\, what ways of thinking\, feeling and actin
g they are explicitly or implicitly endorsing. We will reference specific
Buddhist Suttas and there will be an opportunity to explore our imaginativ
e experience through gentle writing exercises.\n\n\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nBook your
  place here\n\nTuesdays from 3 November - 8 December\nSessions run from 7.
15-9.15pm with a tea break in the middle.\nDoors open at 7pm\, feel free t
o arrive early to settle in\n\nAll our classes and events are run by donat
ion on a give what you can basis. There is no fixed fee.\n'By donation' is
a radical economy\, read more about it here.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAbout Going D
eeper:\nOnce you have learnt the basics on our Introductory Courses you ca
n continue exploring Buddhism and Meditation in Going Deeper. As the name
suggests\, it is an invitation to go deeper: patiently\, honestly\, and wi
th curiosity. We will explore how core Buddhist teachings unfold through s
ustained exploration\, with emphasis on our own lived experiences.\n\nYou
don’t need to think of yourself as a Buddhist\, just someone who’s int
erested. Alternatively you may have been coming for a while and something
in this theme speaks to you. All levels of experience are welcome.\n\n&nbs
