Dharma Night: The Buddha’s teachings for everyone

The Way of Zen
with Abhayadhara

‘A special transmission outside the scriptures
No dependence on words and letters
Direct pointing to the mind
Seeing into one’s true nature and attaining Buddhahood’

Such is the nature of Zen, according to the Zen master Bodhidharma. In Sangharakshita’s view, Zen represents (along with the Mahamudra and Dzogchen teachings) ‘the peak of Buddhist spirituality.’

And yet it is often misunderstood.

In this Dharma night series we will explore the liberating power of this beautiful and enigmatic tradition. We will reflect on scriptures central to the Zen tradition, such as the Heart Sutra, on classic Zen stories and poems; and practice ‘just sitting.’

______________

Every 7 weeks there will be a new theme, along with pujas and guest speakers. Each session is stand alone, so you don’t have to come to every one in the series.
Dharma Night is the main evening of the week where people with various levels of practice come together. It’s suitable to anyone who is familiar with the mindfulness of breathing and metta bhavana meditations.

No need to book. No charge – please make a donation.

Dharma night runs from 7:15 – 9:15pm every Thursday evening. Doors open at 7pm for a chance to chat and have tea before hand.
