The Birmingham Buddhist Centre has a range of rooms available to hire for suitable groups and activities. We have the most availability during weekdays and especially welcome regular, ongoing bookings. Evenings and weekends tend to be busier, though spaces do occasionally become available.
As our main focus is teaching Buddhist meditation, we don’t host external meditation teachers or events of a similar nature. We also ask that all activities are in keeping with the calm and friendly atmosphere of the Centre.

THE DIFFERENT SPACES:
Yoga Studio
Fully equipped and with a sprung floor, the Yoga Studio is quiet and spacious with a calm feel. Dimensions: 10.6m long x 8.2m wide x 3.5m high – holds about 30 people for yoga and pilates-type classes, about 50 – 70 for seated events. Accessible by wheelchair.

Jasmine Room
Adjacent to the Yoga Studio, the Jasmine Room has the same sprung hardwood floor. It is similarly quiet, with warm colours and more natural light. Dimensions are 10m long x 4.7m wide x 2.7m high – holds about 18 people for yoga and other bodywork classes, about 35 people for seated events. Accessible by wheelchair.

Garden Shrine Room
This space is useful for meditation, tai chi, yoga, etc., in small groups. Accessible by wheelchair. Views of the garden. 4.8m long and 3.5m wide.

Lotus Room
The Lotus Room is ideal for small meetings, counselling or 1-to-1 sessions. Dimensions: 4.7m long x 1.9m wide. On the ground floor towards the back of the building, the Lotus Room is accessible by wheelchair.

Vajra Room
At the front of the building on the ground floor, the Front Room is suitable for meetings and workshops of 8-10 people.
The Vajra Room is accessible by wheelchair.

Padma Room
Situated at the front of the building on the first floor, the Padma Room is a pleasing space with its own shrine. It is suitable for group work, small meetings and meditation. The Padma Room can hold about 12 people for meetings and workshops. Dimensions: 8m long x 3.2m wide x 2.95m high. The Padma Room is not accessible by wheelchair.

Library
The Library, on the ground floor beside the Cafe area, is ideal for small meetings of 2-4 people. Space not wheelchair accessible.

With the hire of each room comes access to the Cafe Area and use of the kitchen for food and drink preparation, though we do not have the facilities to prepare food for sale. It may be that different groups are using the space at the same time, in which case we may contact you about coordinating lunchtimes so that everyone can eat and drink in the best possible conditions.
It may also be possible to use equipment that the Centre has including flipcharts and lecterns, etc. Please ask about this when you book.
The Buddhist Centre also has a pleasant garden which is available to use during breaks and meal times.
