Guhyaloka Working Retreat
Led by Akashanaga
Dates: Saturday 27th February to Saturday 6th March 2027
Guhyaloka, also known as the secret valley, is a remote and beautiful retreat centre in the Spanish mountains. Nearly 700 men have been ordained there since 1987 and it is a mythic place that holds much significance in our tradition.
Join a group of men from Birmingham for a working retreat there, alongside the Guhyaloka community. We will take part in daily practice, study, and ritual, with five mornings of physical work in the forest and around the centre. There is a full silent practice day within the programme, and plenty of time to rest, explore, and get to know each other.
Cost: 160 euros, not including flights (approx £60 to £120 return from Birmingham)

Is this retreat for me?
This retreat is for men regularly practising in Triratna and with experience of being on retreat. We will be following a programme of meditation, study and ritual, alongside the physical work.
Guhyaloka is basic in its amenities and the landscape is rugged, so you would need to be prepared for exposure to the elements. Sleeping accommodation is in a number of small huts (or kutis) dotted around the retreat centre. Lighter work duties are also available for those who need it.
